The Southern Ridges
| Linking three parks in the southern part of Singapore, this is a 9 km long stretch connecting Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge Park via three bridges and walkways - the Henderson Waves, Alexandra Arch and Forest Walk. It offers eight trails including the Marang Trail, the Canopy Walk, the Hilltop Walk, the Forest Walk and the Flora Walk. Henderson Waves is Singapore's highest pedestrian bridge and the waveforms are lit with LED lamps from 7.00 p.m. to 2.00 a.m. daily.

HSBC Treetop Walk
| It spans a 250m free-standing suspension bridge linking Bukit Kalang and Bukit Pierce. 25m above ground level, the bridge skims treetops and offers panoramic views. The round trip from the reservoir park to the entrance of the Walk is about 10km long, and takes between three and five hours to complete. There is also a shortcut via a 2.5 km long path from Venus Drive. Traffic on the suspension bridge is one-way and it is restricted to 30 people at any one time.

MacRitchie Reservoir Park
| The first of Singapore's four water catchment areas, with lush forests and remnants of old rubber plantations, the MacRitchie Reservoir has six colour-coded trails ranging from 3 km (1 hour) to 11 km (about 4 hours) along its perimeter. Routes 1 and 2 are popular for runners training fro cross-country runs.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
| Along with the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, it forms one of the largest plots of primary rainforest in the world today, with over 840 species of flowering plants and more than 500 types of fauna. Six walking trails and a dedicated mountain biking trail, most lasting between 45 minutes and two hours. It is prohibited (Parks and Trees Act 2005) to hike in groups of more than 30 without a permit, and walking off the designated trails.

| The National Parks website has extensive information on all the parks in Singapore, including maps of hiking routes. If new to hiking, get a guide, NParks organises regular free guided walks. Stay on the designated trail and watch out for colour-coded markers that have been placed at regular intervals. Drink lots of water before the hike, and sparingly during the hike. Invest in a good pair of running shoes. Start slow, don't push yourself.
