i Light Marina Bay is a sustainable light art festival, a tribute to an ephemeral art that is all about 'reduction' through the use of LED lights, energy-saving lightbulbs and kinetic energy - sustainability and recycling. It aims to engage people through sustainable light art installations that are thought-provoking and inspiring yet 'light-hearted'.
22 light installations by Singaporean and international artists, curated by a panel of professionals and practitioners in the fields of arts, architecture, urban planning and lighting, represents a greater community participation this year with initiatives to encourage festivalgoers to adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives. This includes talks and workshops, a Switch Off Turn Up campaign, and a number of interesting fringe activities.
The Art-Zoo Inflatable Park - an imaginative play garden returns to the Festival this year with a new line-up of characters for the young and young-at-heart. (Ticketing information for this event here).
On the final weekend, The Promontory will be transformed into a neon-coloured playground to host the Illumi Fest Run in which participants are splashed with glow-in-the-dark water as they navigate through various activity zones.
Free admission ... be awed and delighted.
