Event Navigation

The M1 Singapore Fringe Festival is an annual festival of live art created and presented by Singaporean and international artists. Themed differently each year, the Festival aims to bring the best of contemporary, cutting-edge and socially engaged works to the Singapore audience.
When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’
—Fred Rogers
The Fringe 2022: The Helpers lineup aims to inspire hope and positive change, and a move towards a kinder, more caring society. It invites you to consider how, in spite of these despairing times, our collective universe of obligation can expand in defiance, to offer optimism, hope and healing. How can we propel a politics of care—one that focuses on compassion and the wellbeing of all, be they kin, community, citizens and our environment?
“An act of kindness, an extended hand or even an unexpected smile, can go a long way towards making someone’s day. Taking it a step further, this year’s artistic works invites you to explore how one can empower and share that optimism, hope and healing to others, even in the wake of a pandemic.”
