Singapore Biennale 2022 – Natasha

Natasha, as the Singapore Biennale 2022 is named, takes place in 13 locations around the island and offers 30 new and specially commissioned artworks.
Venues include the Singapore Flyer, International Plaza, the former midfilm House at 22 Orchard Road, St. John’s Island, Lazarus Island and regional libraries in Woodlands, Jurong and Tampines. The Singapore Art Museum (ART) @ Tanjong Pagar Distripark remains the anchor for the biennale, hosting more than 100 artworks by over 50 artists from 20 countries.
Of note among the noteworthy, Garden Amidst the Flame; Lacuna for Compassion (2022) based on the Karai ritual of the ethnic Minahasan people of Indonesia; Moving Earth, Crossing Water, Eating Soil on St. John’s Island – an audio, visual and tactile installation that invites the viewer to create new mappings of the environment; the multi-authored project Islandwide Coverage, in six locations, exploring the infrastructural networks and environments of everyday life.
The organisers invite audiences, artists, collaborators … all fellow travelers, to find, form or shape the biennale in the process of experiencing it.
