Kent Ridge Nature Walk
May 17
Event Navigation

In conjunction with the Singapore Heritage Fest 2022, this walk explores the western part of the Pasir Panjang Ridge which was renamed Kent Ridge in 1954.
The battle at Pasir Panjang marked one of the last battles for Singapore. The fierce battle by the Malay Regiment against the Japanese Occupation along Pasir Panjang ridge lasted for almost 2 days on 13 February 1942.
The walk includes part of the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus that was built on the old battleground, a now inaccessible 1930’s military outpost, the forest along Kent Ridge Road, and an old stone marker that commemorates the battle. Flora and fauna found at the ridge will be discussed and the walk includes a bird-watching activity.
Approximately 2 hours, in English.
The walk will start at the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum and end at Kent Ridge MRT Station.
