November 11, 2019 - January 31, 2020
A permanent exhibition of immersive, interactive artworks where Art meets Science, where the creative threads of art, science, technology and culture create worlds of magic and metaphor.
This collection of installations and interactive projects that showcases digital technology as a medium for art will fascinate adults and children because – primarily – it is an invitation to have fun, play and explore. It also inspires reflection and a realisation that everything connects, as Leonardo da Vinci so famously said.
There are four themes, all of which use cutting edge science and technology to create constantly evolving environments for visitors of all ages to explore. Artworks change with each interaction to make for a uniquely individualistic experience.
City in a Garden
Singapore’s greening policy is guided by the city in a garden vision, that integrates greenery in both built environments and the daily lives of people, emphasising the unique relationship of the city with nature and the importance of flora and fauna to Singapore’s identity.
People often seek a moment of tranquility to escape from their hectic lifestyles. This part of the exhibition allows for meditation and reflection – an oasis of calm. A philosophical and spiritually immersive installation.
Nature preserves, playgrounds, theme parks and zoos … various manifestations of recreation. Visitors can explore, physically exert themselves and understand the importance of ‘play’ in the context of daily life.
Outward and upward – the beauty and scale of astronomical space, the subject of dreams, artistic visions, myths. An infinite source of human creativity. This is a spatial network of physical space to connect with, on a personal level.
This is the creative work of TeamLab, a group of ultra-technologists, made up of engineers, animators, mathematicians and architects.
