October 4 - October 6
Cerita Anak (Child’s Story) is an unforgettable journey for children and adults … a journey across a strange ocean, down to the bottom of the sea, with stories in the wind and ocean currents and great danger before reaching safe harbour.
It draws inspiration from Java’s seafaring history and is told by a small boy through puppetry, song, shadow imagery and sound.
Cerita Anak (Child’s Story) offers two perspectives, designed for children and their adults.
- The inner audience (Passenger) has a child/adult pair who enter the boat as passengers and fully participate in the work. It is recommended for children between the ages of 2 and 7 years. Passenger tickets are sold as a pair (1 adult + 1 child) or a package of 3 (any combination of adult + children) and are S$ 30.00 per ticket.
Children must be accompanied by an adult (16 years and older). Each ticket admits one.
- The outer audience (Villager) is made up of other family members and older children, seated in a typical theatre seating arrangement and who watch/experience the work as a piece of theatre. It is for children 7 years and older. Villager tickets are sold individually @ S$ 20.00 per ticket.
The two perspectives offer very different understandings of the work.
Those participating in Passenger are requested to arrive 20 minutes before scheduled showtime to check-in. They will need to set aside prams and bags and remove socks and shoes for the duration of the performance.
There will be a craft session before the scheduled boarding (show) time.
1 hour with no intermission.
10.30 a.m., 2.00 p.m. & 4.30 p.m.
