January 20 - January 22
A one-man movement-based production that draws on Neo Hai Bin’s short story Da Hai De Ren (People of the Sea). Actor Neo dons a fish-like costume and explores the relationship between man and nature.
Why do we feel rootless? Why do we feel like aliens on our land?
We created man-made things to protect ourselves from nature. Yet because of this, we are alienated from nature.
How do we find our centre?
Through the relationship between man and sea, the production explores what it means to be an intricate part of nature. Be-ing is an attempt to draw strength from nature, and from that source, discover how to be at ease in the sea of life.
With the philosophy of ‘Space x Time x Material’, the production uses light, sound and textures as the main medium for the performance, hoping to reconnect city-dwellers back to a root— our breath.
Performed in Mandarin and English with subtitles. 60 minutes with no intermission.
7.00 p.m. & 9.00 p.m.
