2219 : Futures Imagined
November 23, 2019 - April 5, 2020
How might our lives change, how will we survive and grow ? An experience for the curious and the explorer – an interactive artwork that explores relationships between humans and theirs with nature.
This immersive and experiential exhibition – a journey into imaginary future worlds – features over two dozen artists, architects, filmmakers, writers and theatre companies from Singapore and around the world.
Unfolding over five Acts, the exhibition places visitors in scenarios that explore how our future lives may be impacted by climate change and loss of the planet’s biodiversity. The show provides a contemplative space for visitors to consider the global context that Singapore is part of, and how larger environmental forces will impact our home.
At the heart of 2219: Futures Imagined is The Library of Necessary Books – a collection of books that have been lovingly handed down for generations, from the past into the future. Visitors are invited to submit/donate books – that may hold a special meaning for them, or ones that they think is important for future generations of Singaporeans – to the Library for display in the exhibition.
Curated by the ArtScience Museum and co-produced by SpaceLogic.
